"Two albums of heartfelt slowcore and modular post-rock ambience.
[...]
Lighthouse Song continues Ryan LaLiberty’s trajectory of merging noise, ambient and drone textures with traditional songwriting forms. Instrumentally and lyrically largely improvised, the album comprises lots of delay, live looping and loop processing, with minimal overdubs. Thematically, it’s all about finding comfort, safety, solace and love wherever you are, in the moment you are in, while also maintaining distance and independence. Let the lighthouse guide you home, but don’t forget to leave again."
Artist statement by Net:
"This album was a cathartic step after several difficult years. For about half of the material I arranged my usual features—pads, granulated choirs, pseudo-organic textures—for songwriting rather than instrumental stuff. With live bass and sung lyrics, the result is some sort of guitarless, slow-core post-rock, expressing myself as felt necessary. Lyrical themes, though overlapping, broadly map as parental love (Sebisti), animal ethics (Shred alive), self-loathing (Loser Daddy), struggles with wellbeing (Yearning), and certain cherished auras of places and entities (Violet beetle)."
