"Dan Gilmoreによる『Know I’ve Been Here Before』は、2007年から2010年にかけて録音されたオーディオファイルを再構成・オーバーダビングして制作された、11曲からなる組曲だ。これらの録音から私が聴き取るのは、ギターや（自作の）シンセサイザー、マイクといった様々な音源だけでなく、動きやリズム、質感、さらにはハーモニーだけでなく、アイデアや願望、状況、そして制作様式までもだ。これは、連想と断絶を通じて、（私を）思索的かつ無思慮な気分にさせる音楽である。これはどこか聞き覚えがあるが、そもそも私はどうやってここにたどり着いたのだろうか？

"'Know I've Been Here Before' by Dan Gilmore is a suite of eleven songs, based on reassembled and overdubbed audio files recorded between 2007 and 2010. What I hear in these recordings are not only various sound sources such as the guitar, the (self-built) synthesizer, or microphones, not only movements, rhythms, textures, or even harmonies, but also ideas, aspirations, circumstances, a mode of production. It is music that, through association and disassociation, makes (me) both thoughtful and thoughtless. This sounds familiar, but how did I get here in the first place?

'Know I've Been Here Before' is the third publication by Les Archives de la Médiocrité. The album follows appearances by Gilmore on labels such as Regional Bears, HologramLabel, Edition Erich Schmid, and Gateway Gardenia. The artist, who is based in New York, runs the label Spoor LLC and is the former head of the Careful Catalog imprint."

The instrument operates by resonating physical materials and feeding their signals back into themselves and into each other through spectral processing, producing a system in which sound emerges from the interaction between objects, circuits, and environment. Alongside this work, Windsor composes pipe organ drone music, performs improvised music with Muta, modified reed organs, and voice, and plays in the art pop group Static Caravan.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cem\u003eMuta forms the core of this recording. Actions such as the introduction of air, the agitation of the surface, or the chemical activity of effervescence produce subtle but consequential changes in the feedback network.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe recordings presented here document a series of experiments using larger vessels, extending the instrument’s range into lower frequency regions. This shift in scale brings a greater sense of weight and spatial extension to the sound. The first track emerges from a more deliberate tuning process, in which water levels were adjusted to locate and stabilise resonant frequencies within the vessels. Through this process, the vase was tuned so that its fundamental frequency sits at a septimal seventh above the singing bowl, producing a complex and unstable harmonic relationship that remains present throughout the recording.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe vase itself was sourced from a charity shop and later ruptured during a lecture demonstration. These recordings therefore capture both its initial activation within the instrument and its final sounding. The instrument operates by resonating physical materials and feeding their signals back into themselves and into each other through spectral processing, producing a system in which sound emerges from the interaction between objects, circuits, and environment. This shift in scale brings a greater sense of weight and spatial extension to the sound. The first track emerges from a more deliberate tuning process, in which water levels were adjusted to locate and stabilise resonant frequencies within the vessels. The three pieces came together over the course of December 2025 to March 2026, drawing from improvised material and found sounds, combined to gradually create a sense of structure.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cem\u003eThe work is concerned with Nev Wendell’s relationship to the city she lives in at this point in time. A sense of place is never separate from the experience of living in it, and this interplay is central. Her connection to Los Angeles and the landscape that it is nestled within surfaces throughout the work, whether or not explicitly site specific field recordings are present.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cem\u003eDespite living in Hollywood, a chaotic and at times surreal environment, it is possible to move quickly into the quiet chaparral of the Hollywood Hills. The initial sensation is one of separation from the noise of the city, followed by a gradual adjustment of the ear to a softer but equally active soundscape.
