The album opens with the concise title track, “feedback memory,” followed by “suspended in the lilt of desire” and “sursum corda.” “glittered in thaw” offers a brief, shimmering interlude before the album closes with the expansive “late fragment,” a 20-minute piece that gives the record its longest stretch of open-ended space.

r beny is the ambient electronic project of Northern California musician Austin Cairns. Working with synthesizers, modular systems, sampling, effects, and field recordings, Cairns has developed a deeply immersive approach to electronic music. His work often explores sound as a way of expressing emotions, ideas, and memories that are difficult to put into words.

Cairns’ recordings have appeared on labels including Dauw, Seil Records, Longform Editions, Past Inside the Present, and Quiet Details.
