There are very few recordings of the live band in existence, and we have had many different versions - instrumental, with singing, large ensembles and small. Because we barely play outside our home town, all these ideas and new music goes unheard by anyone that isn’t part of the handful of people who come to our gigs. It is a bit hiddenness. This is a glimpse into one version of the band, documented for anyone to hear. ニュージーランド・オークランドのテクノ作家Faulskが、2026年10月にーストラリア・メルボルンのPugilistベース作家Pugilist主宰レーベルRuff Kutzからリリースした12"です。 ディープテクノ〜ダブテクノ4曲を収録。 以下、Pugilistによる解説です。 "人生は時に循環しているように感じられるもので、このレーベルでの最初のソロリリースを自分以外のアーティストに任せたのは、間違いなく正しい選択だった。たまたまそのアーティストが、タマキ・マカウラウ／オークランド出身のプロデューサーだったのだが、そこはまさに私がエレクトロニック・ミュージックへの生涯にわたる情熱を育んだ場所でもある。2024年後半にワカマナで一緒にライブを行った直後、私たちは楽曲のやり取りを始め、彼が送ってくれた最初のトラックをすぐにリリースにまとめたいと思った。このリリースには、私とのコラボレーション曲2曲も収録されており、サウンドシステムを意識して構築された、テンポの幅を跨ぐ4つのディープでサイケデリックなグルーヴで構成されている。これはとんでもないデビューEPであり、Ruff Kutzからリリースできることに興奮している！ソーシャルメディアでの露出は少なく、世に出したトラックもわずかだが、Faulskは研ぎ澄まされた独自のサウンドアイデンティティを確立しているようだ。テクノとダブのプロダクション・テクニックを融合させつつ、ベース・ヘッドたちを魅了するスワガーと深みを兼ね備えている。巧みに作り込まれたサウンドスケープ、興味深いループ感あふれるグルーヴ、豊かで変化に富んだパッド／スタブ、そして低音域の妙技を期待してほしい。ジャンル――Faulsk、まさに我々が好むスタイルだ。『Galvanize』は、このEPの幕開けを飾る最初のトラックだ。容赦ない4x4のグルーヴ、完璧にバランスが取れた低音、そしてウォッシーな雰囲気を持つこの曲は、徐々に展開していく中で「時には『少ないほど良い』」ということを示している。無駄を削ぎ落とした抑制とネガティブスペースを駆使し、エネルギッシュなムードの変化を生み出しているのだ。A2面では、初のコラボレーション・トラック『Exhalation』がテンポを100BPMまで落とし、まるで冥界から飛び出してきたかのようなベースの変異を披露する。このトラックは『Galvanize』の緊張感あふれる雰囲気を引き継ぎつつ、変化し続けるドローンと鋭利なパーカッションで強度を高め、密度の高いサウンドスケープの中に溶け込んでいる。B面のタイトルトラックは、初期の『Forest Drive West』を彷彿とさせる9分間の展開だ。音楽パートの繊細な変調とダビングが聴き手を引き込み、砕けるようなパーカッション、軍隊的なグルーヴ、そして精密な低音部との絶妙な対比を生み出している。115 BPMで力強く刻むこのトラックは、地元のアンダーウォーター・ダンスホールに躍動感をもたらす万能な一曲だ。B2の締めくくりは、また別のコラボレーションだ。テンポを120台半ばまで上げ、『Retrospect』はポリリズムのグルーヴと、決着のつかないような感覚によって催眠的な世界へとさらに深く沈み込み、安定した勢いを生み出す。それに加え、豊かで変化に富んだシンセワークがトラックを静謐な世界へと導く。サウンドシステムを調整せよ。" Pugilist · Ruff Kutz 005...
