purge.xxxは、作家、興行主、コメディアン、そしてクラック中毒者としても知られるDonaldson、別名Henry Rootの大ファンだった。だからこそ、放送開始から30周年を迎える初夏、カーブーツセールで、ラジオの生放送を録音した海賊版としてこの完全に失われていた番組を見つけたことは……単なる幸運の域を超えていた。"

purge.xxx were already huge fans of DONALDSON aka HENRY ROOT: author, impresario, comic and crack-head, and so to find this completely lost programme as a bootleg, taped live from radio, at a carboot sale in the early summer of its thirtieth anniversary was . . . beyond serendipity."

At one point I had almost forgotten that I had even produced it. Now it's finally here—but what does that change?\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cem\u003eSide A features a 24-minute piece titled Aber Was Ändert Das? (What Does That Change?)\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cem\u003eAber Was ändert Das? – Two oscillators coupled via a comparator and routed through a filter bank form the foundation of this piece. Eight filters within the bank are modulated by a synchronised octal triangle wave. Over time, the modulation gradually unfolds like an abanico (fan), shifting into different patterns. The impulses slowly dissolve into noise. A looping voice tape is added to the texture, and the piece concludes with a melody of comb-filtered sine tones.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cem\u003eSide B presents several variations and adjustments of a self-generative patch.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cem\u003eQuantitative Unbestimmbarkeit I-V (Quantitative Indeterminacy I–V) – At the core of these pieces is a source of\u003cspan class=\"bcTruncateMore\"\u003e uncertainty and three function generators programmed in mutual feedback. The tonal material is derived from a wave-folded sine wave, a noise source, and a pinged state-variable filter.
