--------------------------
The 21 Songs by Joan Krawford Fan Club were recorded on a Fostex X-15 4-track cassette recorder.
Equipment used included: Roland SH-101 synthesizer, Prophet-5 synthesizer (borrowed from a friend), a portable Casio Keyboard, a Korg Drum machine, a Harmonizer/Echo machine, an old, mechanical reverb unit (acquired from a friend), and an assortment of inexpensive pedal effects: echo, flanger & phaser.
Side 10 (A) was mixed/recorded/edited in 1988.
Side 11 (B) was mixed/recorded/edited in 1990.
The songs were mostly written and performed by me with assistance from a few friends and associates.
Sheri Lifesaver's vocals appear on 'The Right Man,' 'Emergency Broadcast' & 'Public Service.'
The songs were mixed onto 2-track cassette, and copies were made from the cassette master.
The copies were given to various friends and for free. Probably only about 50 were ever made.
We existed in Raleigh-NC from 1987-1990. Most of our performances took place at the weekly open mic/poetry readings at an independent bookstore downtown called The Paper Plant. Plus a handful of other performances at other venues including the 1990 Artsplosure Festival.
The JKFC that existed on the demo tapes was slightly different from the JKFC which performed live at the open mic nights.
The live JKFC consisted mainly of Sheri Lifesaver and myself, with occasional help from others.
Most of the songs on the JKFC demos tapes were never performed live. Most of the pieces we performed live were never recorded.
At the time, my intention was that the two versions of JKFC would eventually merge into one, but that never happened.
There are probably only a handful of those tapes still in existence. -Jason Miller
