"『cities are great, people feel good』は、BEATRICE BEISPIELの創作活動の中核にあるもの――すなわち、繊細かつ政治的、そして身体的な行為としてのライブ・コンポジション――を記録した作品だ。
3つの楽曲にわたり、これらの録音は彼女の初期のコンサートの真髄を捉えている。マイクを楽器として扱い、ルーパーやエフェクトを限界まで駆使し、シンセサイザーが密な音の層の中に、控えめなメロディーとハーモニーを織りなしている。クリック音、パチパチという音、歯擦音、息遣い、声、そしてノイズが、テクスチャーとリズムへと融合する。
洗練されたスタジオ作品とは異なり、これらのトラックはパフォーマンスの生々しい即時性をそのまま留めている。ここでは、アコースティックな音の世界と密接に絡み合ったライブ・エレクトロニック・ミュージックは、ジャンルというよりはむしろ制作手法であり、即興、反復、そして忍耐がこの体験を形作っている。

“cities are great, people feel good” documents BEATRICE BEISPIEL at the core of her practice: live composition as a fragile, political, and physical act.
Across three pieces, these recordings capture the essence of her early concerts — a microphone treated as an instrument, loopers and effects driven to their limits, and a synthesizer weaving sparse melodies and harmonies through dense layers of sound. Clicks, crackles, teeth, breath, voices, and noise merge into texture and rhythm.
Rather than polished studio works, these tracks preserve the raw immediacy of performance. Here, live electronic music, closely entangled with acoustic sound worlds, is less a genre and more a working method — improvisation, repetition and endurance shape this experience.
The tape edition extends this idea into the physical realm. Each cassette case is individually melted by hand, allowing the collage artwork to surface differently every time — no two copies are alike. The five-fold cover and analog duplication emphasize the EP’s material nature, embracing process and imperfection as integral parts of the work."
