"

Walrus Ghost is the alias of Brooklyn-based musician Christian Banks. Combining live instruments with electronic processes, Banks carves out a homespun vision of instrumental post-rock shaped by and inflected with ambient, folk, electronica, and lo-fi rock.

After a debut full-length album with Berlin-based label Project Mooncircle in 2014, and a follow-up collaborative album with jazz guitarist Max Frankl released by Hush Hush Records in 2018, Banks took a hiatus from releasing music but continued to record in his home studio. His work during this time was focused and assiduous, though plagued by setbacks and personal health issues. Undeterred, over the course of a few years he completed what is his second solo full-length album, ‘If You Could Be Here Now.’

Banks says of his break from and subsequent return to music: 'Like most things in life, putting these songs together didn't play out as I imagined due to realities of everyday living. I went through some serious health problems and big life changes while making all of this music; some experiences that forever affected my general perspective and shaped the tone of this album. They changed me as a person, changed my artistry and my overall approach to creative output. This album represents this time and the feelings it brought on. I aim to make music that will be lasting and timeless, but I also hope this album echoes a kind of meditation on both the collective human condition and where I'm at in life as myself in this moment.'"
