The organ is in poor condition and fascinatingly, painfully detuned. Yorke's recordings bring out its host of unusual quirks exacerbated by age and neglect: the powerful rhythmic creaking of the wooden treadles; the bone-shaking resonance emanating from its body at specific pitches; unexpected exclamations of harmonic collision from within the carcass redolent of a human voice; the piercing\u003cspan class=\"bcTruncateMore\"\u003e, shrieking whistles of broken reeds, and the powerful timbres unlocked via Yorke's experiments with various combinations of stops.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe three tracks that form Salix are inspired by a local weeping willow tree, a constant companion photographed over the course of a year.
